Catalina Samokhvalof Shoate,
President
Catalina is the
president of the Board of Directors for Culture Shock San Diego and a cardio
hip hop instructor for Culture Shock Dance Center. She has worked closely
with Angie Bunch and the team as a production director for more than four
years and continues to do so. Prior to accepting the position on the Board,
she served one year as the administrative director for Culture Shock San
Diego and was a member of the staff.
Catalina is
currently
the Director of Human Resources for a local real estate
investment company. She has had continued success as an HR professional
through her employment with various law firms and professional memberships,
including the Society for Human Resources, Association of Legal
Administrators, San Diego Employers Association and Legal Marketing
Association. |

David Muscat,
Treasurer
David Muscat is a San Diego State University graduate with a
Bachelors of Science in Applied Arts and Sciences. He has made his home in
University Heights and is part of a large extended family; David is the
youngest of eight children.
David was VP of Operations for 2 large companies
in the Bay Area of California for 10 years, focused in the area of
acquisitions and mergers and development of computer software. David is
extremely involved with the community and non-profits. David has chosen
State Farm as his career choice in order to combine his love of business,
interest in the community, and passion for helping people plan their future. |

Sharon Bunton,
Secretary
Sharon has been around Culture Shock
Dance Center for the past 4 years or so taking classes as recreational
dancer, and is new to the Board. She is employed at the University of San
Diego and has worked there for the last 11 years. She started out as a
temporary employee and became full-time a few months later. She is the
Executive Assistant in the Biology Department, and she works for 15
full-time professors, and about 12 part-time professors. Sharon has
volunteered at the Polinsky Children's Center, Kaiser ER, Aquatic
Adventures, Big Brothers/Sisters program, Wetland Restoration projects, just
to name a few. She is a firm believer in volunteering and giving back to the
community. |

Christine Kerr,
Board Member
Christine is a mother of two small
children who actively volunteers her time to non-profit organizations. She
served as director of hospitality for the Rady Children's Hospital La Jolla
Auxiliary, working closely with Mojgan Rady in 2006-2007. Also, she is the
2007-2008 co-chair for the Gillispie School Gala, in which she expects to
raise more than $150,000. She has almost completed her B.A. in
writing/literature at University of California, San Diego UCSD).
She worked two years at Southwestern Community
College as a writing tutor; two more at UCSD for OASIS (Office of Academic
Support and Student Services) as a writing tutor again; edited the
university's literary magazine, Temper, and was awarded the McNair
Fellowship for her work in sociology. She has published some of her poetry
and looks for-ward to publishing her short stories as well as here first
full-length novel. Christine spent ten years as a bookkeeper for a property
management and real estate investment firm in San Diego. |

Liz Bernal,
Board Member
Liz is a native San Diegan and a
professionally trained graphic designer. She began her career over twenty
years ago working in large corporate art departments, moving on to an
award-winning design firm and eventually starting her own business, Bernal
Design in 2001.
She has served as a BVA (Business Volunteer of
the Arts) member with San Diego Performing Arts League and as a member of
AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts), a professional association for
designers. Having a natural appreciation for all aspects of design, she was
inspired to launch an apparel line, Thread619, in the spring of 2008. |

Angie Bunch,
Founder & Executive Director
Angie is a professional
dancer and Nike, Inc.-sponsored dance athlete from San Diego, California.
She is the founder and Executive Director of Culture Shock Dance Troupes,
Inc., a professional hip hop dance company and youth outreach organization.
Since creating this world-renowned dance phenomenon in San Diego in 1993,
she has seen the troupes expand into Los Angeles; San Francisco; Las Vegas;
Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and Atlanta. Motivated by a powerful mission and
successful programs, this organization has gained attention abroad and now
operates in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Angie can be seen in the recently released book
Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits, written by Nancy Alspaugh and
Mary Ann Halpin. She was also honored with the Channel 10 News "Leadership
Award." Angie has taught hip hop at San Diego Mesa Community College for
more than 20 years. She is co-owner of Culture Shock Dance Center, located
near Old Town in San Diego, California. |

Sherry Hill,
Administrative Director
Sherry has been an outstanding portrait photographer for 20 years.
She is the administrative director for Culture, Future and Mighty Shock San
Diego. Sherry has been happily married for 24 years and is also the mother
of three great kids. She lives in Carlsbad, California. |

Sherman Shoate
Sherman was born in San Pablo,
California, and grew up in San Diego. While attending Mesa College, where he
was a member of the football and track teams, he enrolled in Angie Bunch's
Hip Hop class and was instantly drawn to dancing. Following only his
instincts, Sherman declined several sports scholarship offers in order to
pursue a career in dancing.
He continued to study under Angie's direction, and joined Culture
Shock Dance Troupe in 1998. Sherman's innate talent for performing and
brilliant stage presence quickly earned representation with DDO and BLOC
Talent Agency. His credits include several music videos for Missy Elliott,
and Britney Spears, as well as concert tours with TLC, Chante Moore, Mary J.
Blige and Destiny's Child. He has performed at Sea World, the San Diego Zoo,
in movies and television commercials, at a number of television stations and
several local theaters. His most valued role, however, comes as the director
of Culture Shock San Diego, having carried the title for over seven years.
Sherman is currently an instructor at Culture Shock Dance
Center, where he teaches all levels of hip hop. He is frequently called upon
to instruct classes nationally and worldwide. |

Cheyenne Kibblewhite
Cheyenne began dancing with Culture
Shock in 1995 and has danced on both the San Diego and San Francisco
troupes. She has had many roles within the organization, including
administrative director and assistant director. Now she serves as the
director for Mighty Shock and Mini Shock and is a member of the advisory
staff. Cheyenne is both proud and honored to be a part of an organization
with such a strong mission statement and is actively involved in Culture
Shock's continuous service to the community. |

Jeri O'Keefe,
Consultant
Jeri O'Keefe & Associates is a consultant
who counsels business owners and managers on operations, financial and
accounting matters, and human resource issues. As a career executive
director in professional service firms, and as an officer of a 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit California corporation, Jeri advises Culture Shock Dance
Troupe on organizational and board of director-related issues, and provides
outsourced accounting services.

Al Harnois,
Esq., Legal Advisor
Al is currently working on his thesis and is set to graduate in 2008 with his seventh college/university degree, an advanced
law degree in Intellectual Property (LL.M. IP) from the University of Santa Clara. His other degrees include an AS in Mathematics,
a BS in Psychology, a BS in Accounting, a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, a Masters degree in Computer Science, and a Law degree. Professionally, Al is a
Senior Intellectual Property Attorney for startup company Bridgelux, Inc. in Silicon
Valley. He has
over fifteen years of engineering experience as well and has taught computer science classes, including web design. |

Risa Blumlein
Risa is a librarian for San Diego County Libraries,
specializing in technology design and management, and is in her culminating
year of San Jose State's Library and Information Sciences graduate program.
Risa received her BA from UCSD in sociology in 2003, and began work as
Culture Shock's development director in 2004. Risa was also a Culture Shock
company dancer from 2005 to 2007. |
